AMA Practical Clinical Governance for Doctors
Facilitated by the Australian Institute of Health Executives
This workshop equips doctors and healthcare leaders with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to govern clinical care effectively - turning governance from theory into everyday leadership practice.
Facilitated by practicing healthcare specialists in clinical governance, the workshop will focus on actionable patient-centric techniques and data-driven approaches that can be adapted into your real-life setting.
This 4 hour virtual workshop is designed to build the governance capability of doctors and modern healthcare leaders. Doctors will learn to:
- understand your responsibilities as an executive or clinical leader — and how to discharge them with confidence
- move beyond policy to embed genuine patient-centered governance, incident management, and open disclosure
- design and strengthen governance structures, dashboards, committees, and reporting frameworks that drive meaningful oversight
- navigate sentinel events, root cause analysis, and high-risk clinical services with executive-level insight
- build a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across clinical teams
- interpret clinical indicators, dashboards, and outcomes data to guide strategic and operational decisions.
Participants who successfully complete the Practical Clinical Governance Course will receive the AIHE Certificate in Practical Clinical Governance (CPD eligible for 4 hours).
