AMA Managing Disruptive Clinicians Workshop
Facilitated by the Australian Institute of Health Executives
This workshop provides healthcare leaders with an immersive and interactive experience to learn best-practice strategies, and equip themselves with their own effective own toolkit for managing disruptive clinicians.
Using AIHE exclusive teaching methodology and real-life case studies designed by leading healthcare specialists, participants will gain knowledge on the fundamentals and practical strategies for identifying and responding to challenging behaviour in your work environment.
This 4 hour virtual workshop is designed for clinicians whether in leadership, or starting on the journey to build confidence and practical skills in an interactive learning and supportive environment. Clinicians will learn to:
- identify and recognise early markers and learn crisis intervention techniques for responding to confronting scenarios
- recognise the link between disruptive behaviour, patient harm, clinical outcomes and operational performance
- identify the duties and responsibilities of a healthcare leaders in managing disruptive and/or impaired clinicians
- undertake procedurally fair investigative processes, and respond to confronting situations and difficult conversations.
At the successful completion of the course, participants are awarded a CPD eligible Certificate in Managing Disruptive Clinicians.
Meet your course facilitator:

Prof Luis Prado
Chief Academic Officer, AIHE
Dr Luis Prado is a Senior Medical Administrator with Queensland Health and has over 30 years of leadership experience across public and private healthcare. He has held key roles including Chief Medical Officer at St John of God Healthcare, Epworth HealthCare, and UnitingCare Health, and is an experienced Board Director.
A Major in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, he has served on international deployments and commanded the 11th Medical Company in Brisbane. Dr Prado is an Adjunct or Affiliate Professor with QUT, Deakin University, and the University of Queensland, and is actively involved in medical education.
A practicing General Practitioner since 1993 with an interest in sports medicine, he is a Fellow of RACGP, RACMA, and the first Australian Fellow of both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Medical Quality.
